Race Day with Tanner Foust and Scott Speed

September 13, 2017 by Emily Hutchinson

The fun began at Sur La Table in Kirkland, Wa. I was asked by Volkswagon to come join the VW/ Andretti team for a fun cooking challenge with both drivers. For those of you that don’t know; Tanner Foust and Scott Speed are both very successful Rallycross Drivers with GRC. I had the opportunity to get to know them outside of racing and I must say, they are both very impressive men. My favorite quality in a person is their sense of humor and they both had me laughing!!! I was chosen on Scotts team and we won the challenge with a brie and crispy bacon stuffed burger and hand cut truffle salted fries.

An invitation was extended to Mike, Mikie and I to join them on Race Day! What an honor it was for my Husband, my son and I to get to see what it’s like to be a Rallycross driver. We got to hang out, eat, chat and spend time with the whole crew. Tanner and Scott were so wonderful to all their fans, it was great to see them signing autograph after autograph and taking loads of pictures with people that adore them. Here are some of my favorite pictures from Sunday.

After meeting Tanner and Scott, my family and I will be forever fans of theirs. They are both incredible humans and we felt very blessed to be a part of their time in Seattle! It was a wonderful experience and one of the coolest things I have done. I love making new friends. I Can’t wait tell they come back….maybe we will be racing on a Go-Kart track next time!

I get excited just thinking about how delicious these cookies are. A little back story, YEARS ago I developed what my family and I consider the best Chocolate chip cookie and I hand wrote it on a 5 x 7 note card and kept it among others in my cupboard. I baked this recipe frequently…

roasted rhubarb crumble cookies

I am such a huge fan of rhubarb. I do like strawberry rhubarb but in my opinion just straight rhubarb is better. I developed this roasted rhubarb crumble cookie recipe in hopes that you’d fall in love with rhubarb too, if you aren’t already a lover. Rhubarb has a distinct tart flavor that becomes delicious…
